So, what happens when you put Chris Hemsworth, Jessica Chastain, Charlize Theron, and Emily Blunt together?
Those are really big names. Those are top Hollywood names.
And it was entertaining.
I don’t know if that was because Kristen Stewart wasn’t there, and it was obvious that the “Snow White” in the beginning of the movie was not her.
Watch enough of Twilight and you should know how the back of her head looks like.
So we start with Freya, who was heartbroken and decided to rule her kingdom the way she was: ice cold.
She was basically Frozen’s Elsa, if she had been a crazy stalker who made sure nobody in her army would love anyone. Because that was what she did: she took children away from their parents and then trained them to be the best fighters.
And instead of Anna, we got Ravenna. Do you remember her from Snow White and the Huntsman? The crazy queen?
Anyways, Freya got a batch of children who were sad that they were taken away from their families. However, she told them to forget their parents and to not love.
There was one rule in her kingdom: Do not love.
However, growing up together, the top apprentices Eric and Sara fell in love, and one night secretly married.
Now, if giving your necklace to someone means you’re married, I shall never receive a necklace from any man.
Freya spied on them and decided to separate the two. She used her power to show the pair what they feared, Eric thought Sara died and Sara thought Eric left her.
Then Eric ended up working with Snow White, as we all who had seen Snow White and the Huntsman movie know, and well, that’s the untold part in this one.
Seven years after his separation from Sara, that timeline, Eric was told to deliver an evil mirror to a sanctuary. The mirror belonged to Ravenna, and it started driving everyone insane. People who had listened to the mirror killed each other, and the kingdom wanted it as far away as it could be.
So Eric took off with two dwarves, and during their journey ran into Sara, who never died but was imprisoned by Freya for seven years.
Deep down inside, Eric knew that Sara was using him and working for Freya. But he also believed that the girl he fell in love with was still there.
Would love conquer all?
Would they stand by their vow seven years ago? Or would they kill each other?
It is cliché, and I bet you know how it ends even without seeing it.
But I have to say, despite its flaws and nonsense, this was a pretty entertaining movie.
I wasn’t invested in any character, but Chris Hemsworth was funny. Chastain looked fantastic. I mean, she always does. But she looked badass, and I loved it.
Charlize Theron didn’t have enough screen time, and she was the reason I went to see the movie. Emily Blunt was cold and broken, and I thought she did well.
Now, this was an alright movie. It’s almost like Hansel and Gretel the Witch Hunters, which I really enjoyed. It’s a fun movie.
I fell asleep during Snow White and the Huntsman, and if you ask me what happened in that movie, I won’t be able to answer. I just remember Kristen Stewart glowing in a forest with animals walking towards her, and then she was crowned the queen. Whatever happened between those two events I have no idea. I was asleep.
I didn’t fall asleep during this movie, so that’s a good sign. I also didn’t feel like walking out of the theater, so it’s a pretty decent movie.
It’s not a masterpiece, and it’s not trash either.
I give this movie a 6.5/10.
If you love Hemsworth on giant screen, go for it. If you love Theron, well, you might like her less but she looks amazing in gold.
